The film draws its inspiration from a well-known web-novel that was serialized for more than a decade. The film is a fantasy action story about Kim Dok-ja, the only reader of an obscure online story. When the fictional world becomes reality on the day the novel ends, Kim tries to survive a post-apocalyptic world along with the protagonist of the story, Yoo Jung-hyuk, and other survivors. The adaptation begins the transformation of the widely read book to a visual representation that combines survival tales with other-worldy elements.

The film opened higher than industry projections indicated possible, exceeding 120,000 in first-day attendance. That figure itself is higher than "Opposition Party," which held the record for the highest opening day attendance among Korean films released in 2025 before this film with its 104,548 audience. It is a strong sign of possible success for Korean movies in the fantasy genre, which has always been saturated by international development.

According to industry analysts, “Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint” is coming through its first weekend, a critical period that helps establish the financial health of a picture. It released at a time when Korean films are backing Hollywood’s attempt to take domestic market share. The mix of heavily referenced characteristics and good visual effects represents a strategy to appeal to ardent fans of the printed work and general audiences looking for “escape."
